We are a chemicals manufacturer.
Therefore, most, if not all, our products are categorized as dangerous goods or hazardous materials when shipped. This classification affects our shipping rates, carrier services, and transit times.
Tracking Packages
Once an order ships from our facility, the customer is responsible for tracking it using the tracking number(s) provided on the packing slip, which is usually emailed at the time of shipment. If you have not received your packing slip, cannot see the tracking number, or have any other issues accessing the details of your shipment, please contact us immediately so we can obtain and send you that information. Your tracking number will update a few hours after the shipment has been picked up the carrier at the end of the business day (4 pm EST). We recommend tracking the package daily to ensure it is delivered to you by the time suggested by the shipping carrier (found on its website). If you notice that your shipment tracking location has not updated by the next day, is stalled somewhere, or has been reported as damaged, please contact us immediately so that we can take further action to resolve the issue for you.
Shipping Rates
Unlike many retailers and/or distributors of chemical products, we do not charge flat shipping rates on our products. We are unable to assess flat rates since the fees can vary due to several factors such as carrier availability, load volume, and dangerous goods classification. As a customer, when you place an order with us, you will only be able to obtain an exact shipping charge once the order is picked up by our carrier. We are unable to guarantee any rates beforehand.
Shipping Costs
Some other fees you may be charged for your shipment are special packaging and hazmat costs. These fees are assessed based on shipment weight and individual weights of order contents. Special packaging fees are charges for additional packing material necessary to wrap up orders to ensure they are not damaged in transit. These fees are typically reflected on orders including larger items (such as gallons, etc.). Hazmat fees are charges passed on to us by shipping carriers such as UPS and Fedex. These fees are assessed simply due to the liability carriers assume when they are transporting dangerous goods from one location to another. For instance, there is a higher chance a gallon of Permalac, when spilled, can cause more damage to a load than a quart of Permalac. Hazmat fees are mandated by all shipping carriers regardless of whether they go ground or air. Typically, orders of quarts and smaller items are not charged a hazmat fee; whereas, order of gallons and larger are.
Shipping Account
Most customers are charged shipping on their invoices; however, we do have a handful of customers who prefer shipping to be billed to their own freight accounts. Please indicate at the time of placing an order if you would like us to charge shipping as a standard cost on your invoice or bill the shipping cost to a shipping account (UPS or Fedex account) you may already have. We will make note of your account number and charge the cost(s) accordingly. This only applies to shipping and/or hazmat fees. Special packaging costs (if applicable) will be added to your invoice.
Shipping Carriers
We typically ship domestic orders (USA, Canada, and Mexico) through our default carrier service, UPS Ground. For Alaska and Hawaii, we can only ship via the United States Postal Service (USPS). For domestic orders (USA, Canada, and Mexico) larger than 100-150 lbs, we ship via UPS Freight. For expedited domestic (USA, Canada, and Mexico) shipments, we ship through Fedex Air and can usually offer Next-Day Air or 2-Day Air services at an additional upgrade charge. For international shipments, we ship through Fedex Priority Air and can offer Fedex Airport-to-Airport (023 Freight) Service or Fedex Door-to-Door Service. The ability to ship Door-to-Door for international clients is limited and varies per country. If you are an international client and would like to arrange for your own carrier pickup, please let us know at the time of order placement and we will work with your logistics contact to ensure it can be done.
Transit Times
All Permalac orders are shipped out of our Manufacturing Facility & Distribution Center located in Philadelphia, PA 19143. All product orders, if in-stock, are expected to be processed and shipped within 3-5 business days from the date of placement, unless communicated otherwise. If we are out of stock, your order is expected to be processed and shipped within 7-10 business days from the date of placement. Larger orders may take up to 30 business days to fulfill due to supply chain factors. Please note, other factors such as holiday traffic, inclement weather, and presence of priority orders may potentially delay your shipment. If you have a special shipping request (such as Next Day Air, etc), please email us at sales@peacocklabs.com or give us a call at 215-729-4400 to let us know. We would be more than happy to offer you custom shipping upgrades to meet your deadlines as possible.
