Thinners and reducers for Permalac.

  • #281 Thinner is a regular-speed lacquer thinner. Use it when the ambient temperature is 50°F to 65°F. Thin Permalac Original, EF 20% when spraying. No thinner will be needed for brushing unless you notice brush strokes or irregularities. Safety and technical data pages are available here. Certificates of analysis are available here.
  • The Permalac Strip Thinner is a blend of solvents designed to dissolve and remove cured Permalac Original, Permalac EF, Permalac NT, and Permalac SR from metal surfaces without marring the substrate. This material is composed of VOC-exempt solvents.

Safety and technical data pages are available here. Certificates of analysis are available here.
  • #69 Thinner is a medium-speed lacquer thinner. Use when the ambient temperature is 66°F to 85°F. When spraying, thin 20%. If the Permalac is drying too quickly, and you notice blush or other adverse effects, you can increase this to 30%. When brushing, thin 10%. Safety and technical data pages are available here. Certificates of analysis are available here.
  • #500 Retarding Thinner can be added to the Permalac Original, Permalac EF, or Permalac NT. It should be used to extend flow time and prevent solvent blush when working in high temperatures or high relative dew points. This will make Permalac take around an hour to set up. Use between 2-5%. Use when humidity exceeds 85%. Safety and technical data pages are available here. Certificates of analysis are available here.
  • This is a VOC-exempt thinner best used with the Permalac NT. Use when the ambient temperature is 55°F to 88°F. When spraying, thin between 20% and 50%. If the Permalac is drying too quickly and you notice blush or any other adverse effects, you can reduce this to 30% and add 2-5% of #500 thinner to negate this. When brushing, thin 10% (only if you notice brush strokes or irregularities).

Safety and technical data pages are available here. Certificates of analysis are available here.
  • #770 Thinner is a medium-speed lacquer thinner formulated with VOC-exempt solvents. It is designed for use with Permalac EF or Permalac NT and should be used when the ambient temperature is 55°F to 88°F. When spraying, thin between 20-50%. If the Permalac is drying too quickly and you notice blush or any other adverse effects, reduce this to 30% and add 2-5% of #500 thinner to negate this. When brushing, thin 10% (only if you notice brush strokes or irregularities).
